Sarah Michelle Gellar Gushes Over New TV Dad Robin Williams, Reveals If She'd Ever Guest Star on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! (16 May 2013)

Joss Whedon and Sarah Michelle Gellar return to TV at the same time? It must be fate! Buffy the Vampire Slayer's creator and star both have highly anticipated new series debuting in the fall, with Whedon's Marvel's of S.H.I.E.L.D. for ABC and Gellar starring alongside Robin Williams in CBS sitcom The Crazy Ones. But could we possibly see Gellar reteam with Whedon for a guest appearance on S.H.I.E.L.D., an idea so nerdgasmic that we're pretty sure it would cause the Internet to spontaneously combust. We caught up with Gellar on the red carpet at the CBS upfront presentation in New York City, where she revealed whether she'd be open to a guest spot on S.H.I.E.L.D., plus she and Williams gushed over »

It's an American Idol showdown! Season 12's top two, Kree Harrison and Candice Glover, are facing off Wednesday on the final night of competition at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live. And they couldn't be more talented - or different. Kree has an authentic country vibe while Candice is pure R&B diva. They each will sing their "coronation song," a song of their choice from the season and a song chosen by producer Simon Fuller. Judges Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and the departing Randy Jackson are definitely making their opinions known as the contestants sing one more time for America's votes. »

Zoe Saldana talks about all the ways 'the boys' made her laugh on 'Star Trek Into Darkness' (16 May 2013)

I am mesmerized by Zoe Saldana's "hot schoolmarm" thing that's going on in this interview. I'm not sure what she's wearing or what she's doing with her hair, but I definitely hear a Van Halen song when I look at her. Saldana is currently Hollywood's busiest alien. She's about to start work on "Guardians Of The Galaxy," introducing her into the Marvel Universe, and James Cameron is supposedly still hard at work on the scripts for "Avatar 2" and "Avatar 3," which he hopes to shoot back to back starting sometime next year. I'd love to know if she's already training »

Last Night on Late Night: William Shatner, Billy Dee Williams Pitched Jj Abrams Star Wars Story Lines (16 May 2013)

Last night, Jimmy Kimmel Live dropped a bombshell on Trekkies and lightsaber warriors alike. As J.J. Abrams took Star Wars plot suggestions from the audience, none other than Captain Kirk and Lando popped up to offer their own self-aggrandizing story lines. "You know, all this Han Solo, Lando thing... Captain Kirk!" exclaimed William Shatner. "No rules, no skirts, you know. Road trip of a lifetime!" Billy Dee Williams proposed "Nothing but Lando" ... and an orgy in space. While Shatner couldn't concede to that, he did present his drawing of Princess Leia and Chewbacca in the throes of love. Plus: Nick Offerman's reprisal of his original birthday song for Megan Mullally left Usher momentarily speechless until he uttered, "Interesting." Also, (hip hop hooray!) Treach and the Roots performed "O.P.P" amid Naughty by Nature's ongoing tour; and Ed Helms announced Bradley Cooper's death (by hair spray) in »

Here's Your Official 'Nicki Minaj Is Done with American Idol' Report (16 May 2013)

"It's safe to say she isn't coming back to Idol," an insider tells Us Weekly, adding that Nicki Minaj will likely segue into recording her new record and touring and endorsing the shit out of everything colored pink. "She's okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway." On the one hand, it's an unnamed source serving up the Kraft Mac & Cheese of rumors — not a promising or impressive dish. On the other hand, it's American Idol, after another floppy season. And there have already been reports of a whole new judging panel next season. And Randy Jackson already left. Minaj is probably out. Just think about keeping Keith Urban around, Idol. Listen to Dave Holmes. »

Interview: John Cochran discusses his 'Survivor: Caramoan' win (16 May 2013)

Say what you will about whether or not returning players have an unfair advantage within the game of "Survivor," I can say with certainty that returning players make the best "Survivor" exit interviews.   If you think back on past seasons, folks like Coach and Russell Swan and Jonathan Penner have been responsible for my favorite post-elimination conversations, while highlights this season have come from veterans like Corinne Kaplan, Malcolm Freberg (a great interview when he was a newbie as well) and the always excitable Phillip Sheppard.    The last of this season's exit interviews is, of course, with the season's »

Review: Emptily accomplished 'Heli' starts Cannes competition on a bleak note (16 May 2013)

Cannes - Telenovela has never seemed more inviting than it does in a brief scene midway through "Heli," which plants our gormless title character in front of an unseen television set blaring the busy hubbub of Spanish soap opera, its shrill dramatics amplifying the violent silence that courses through Mexican director Amat Escalante's third feature. This kind of deadpan reference to more conservative forms of Latin culture is a note often played in new Mexican cinema, ascribing authenticity to a film's worldview by way of absurd contrast -- though reality is as flattened in "Heli" as it is heightened in telenovela. »

Watching the New Arrested Development Episodes in Whatever Order Won't Work After All (16 May 2013)

In the many months we've been hearing about this grand Arrested Development experiment, one thing that's popped up is the notion that these single-character-centric episodes (fifteen in all! Fifteen!) would be great to experience either sequentially or, in a big delivery twist, all out of order. Meaning yes, you could treat yourself and watch G.O.B.'s episodes first thing at 12:01 a.m. on May 26. Now creator Mitch Hurwitz has a couple quick updates. The good news: "Done! Just finished the final mix last night. In two weeks Arrested Development will be yours to do with as you please." The other, not-exactly-bad-and-definitely-useful-as-a-psa news: "Except for 1 thing! You gotta watch them in order. Turns out I was not successful in creating a form where the setup follows the punch line." You've Made A Huge Mistake, Hurwitz. Just kidding, brother — it's a new season of Arrested Development! It's fine! Good to know, »
